I believe that Murphy’s Law gives us the idea that if anything can go wrong, it will go wrong. That seems to be the case of many moms that the above Murphy’s Law describes regarding their children. They endure it all for the love of their children. We are sometimes called upon to endure things in this life, but we are not to expect the worst that can happen. In other words, we shouldn’t think or believe that something is going to go wrong just because there is the possibility it can. Job wasn’t expecting the worst but it came anyway; however, he continued to trust the Lord even though He slay him. Eliphaz was one of Job’s miserable comforters but he spoke the truth when he said, “He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.” (Job 5:19). God has promised never to leave or forsake His children and gives grace that is sufficient to sustain His children in every trial they encounter. God expects the best His children can do, and parents should expect the best their children can do. All of us as children of God should expect to do the best we can and not be satisfied with anything less. When we don’t measure up, don’t let us say, “Well, I knew this would happen.” Parents know their children will fall at times, but they help them up. We will fall at times, but God helps us up; however, we should not expect to fall. God does this because of His love for His children. We should expect to be successful as we trust in God and His promises. Just like the Mom, there is grace to see the beauty in it all. This is God’s law and not Murphy’s Law.–July 10, 2012–Elder Larry Wise
